Newsletter April 2020 Print

President's Report

Greetings fellow NARI members,

When I started working up my message for the April newsletter, I was planning to talk about the Regional CoTY winners and my planned trip to the National Conference in St. Petersburg, FL. Our chapter should be very pleased with the number of chapter winners that are also Regional and perhaps National winners. However, like many of you, it is difficult to focus on much else than our current COVID-19 situation. For our members operating in the state of Washington, our work for the most part has come to an abrupt stop unless you have been specifically designated as an essential business. In Oregon, although the restrictions are somewhat less restrictive with many of our members are taking steps to comply with the OHA social distancing requirements, we are still seeing significant reductions in our production. As we move through this crisis the NARI office will continue to post what we feel is useful information for our members. One of the resources that I feel will be could be the most beneficial to our members is the SBA loan provision in the $2 trillion CARES Act that was signed into law on March 27th. This provision, also known as the Paycheck Protection Program allows businesses to borrow money for continuing operations and under certain circumstances a portion or all of that money borrowed will be forgiven. I encourage you to look into this as well as other recently passed legislation. Congress has made money available to businesses impacted by this crisis and I would encourage you to spend the time to understand how your business can benefit. We need to ensure that our businesses survive, but it is also imperative that we do all we can to support our employees that help make us successful. Please reference the links below to find the useful information on our webpage. I care deeply for this organization and it’s members so if there is anything that I can do to assist any of you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I wish you the best through this rough time.
